Lazy Oaf x Batman Collection Channels ’90s Batmania [link]

British creative label Lazy Oaf launched a Batman-inspired apparel collection for both men and women, just in time to celebrate the success of The Dark Knight Rises. Known for their bright, pop culture-infused graphics inspired by fast food and Disney, the East London-based design team’s take on Batman channels the fun, kitschy side of the Dark Knight. From cropped baseball tees to logo-splattered dresses, the Lazy Oaf x Batman collection is actually quite reminiscent of the material we saw in Batmania craze of the early ’90s that followed the popularity of Tim Burton’s first Batman film.

Some of the items are currently sold out, however Lazy Oaf will be restocking the collection within the next couple of weeks. Fortunately, this gives me enough time to scrounge up some of my leftover SDCC pocket change to pick up a few items for myself!

Turn Your iPhone Into A Robot

Your phone is your best friend, right? If only he could things more on his own. Well, now it can… kind of.

Romo is called an iPhone robot, but it’s really your iPhone sitting on treads. But the possibilities are almost endless. So far, it walks around, it dances, and you can see video through it’s camera on another device. But what makes this really cool is that the app and “legs” designers have left Romo as an opensource. That means that anyone can build actions or programs for the Romo to do.

Who knows, one day may someone might program some AI for it. Then your phone really could be your best friend.

He uses some pre-done loops and some live beat-boxing and singing to do the whole thing in one take. It’s actually quite awesome.

HOVERBIKES!!!!!!!

Do I need to say anymore? Probably not.

But just in case you’re wondering, this is a prototype for what could be the future of transportation. It works just like a bike would with handlebars to steer, but instead of wheels there’s a 4 stroke motor powering carbon fibers that make the bike hover. It says that the bike could possibly reach an altitude of 10,000 feet (but something tells me that would be super unsafe).

Anyways, can we start counting down to the day I can own one?

Yesterday the hip-hop world said goodbye to a true legend of the game, Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys.

Adam had been battling cancer for a long time and finally lost the fight on May 4, 2012.

Many kids grew up listening to the Beastie Boys, including me. They helped to bring hip-hop into the mainstream in it’s early days. They had their own style. They didn’t care if what they were doing was mainstream or not, they just kept on doing what they loved. They stood up publicly for causes they believed in. They were trailblazers.

MCA will be missed.

Morgan Freeman has a guest spot on the new B.o.B album? Damn straight he does.

The new B.o.B album, Strange Clouds, drops today and one of the most famous voices of our generation is on the lead track. And it’s not too shabby of a track to boot.

As of today the New Jersey Nets are no more and the team is moving to Brooklyn. It’s no secret that the Nets are now co-owned by Hova himself, Jay-Z.

They’re starting their marketing already for the new home and doing so using some clever help from the hip-hop world. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Muppets. That’s why I’m super excited that there’s going to be a new full length Muppet movie out this fall cleverly titled “The Muppets”.

While that is super cool on it’s own, it’s not the reason that I think you need to “get hep” to it. What is super cool is that although the movie is coming out in the fall, they’re already getting people talking about it far in advance… and in a very clever way. Rather than saturating us with the trailer (see video above) for the movie over and over again, they’re playing up to other movies that are coming out this summer and general genres and adding their own little Muppet flair to it. Check out some of these bellow:

And finally, this take on the “rom-com” genre and doesn’t even mention The Muppets until the end:

I’m totally loving these and won’t be surprised if see a bunch more of these all the way up to Thanksgiving.
